They are two weeks old! 🎉🎉 This afternoon, chick 1 left the nest bowl, climbed over the big baby gate stick and made its way into the pantry for the first time! This is the same chick that made its escape from the nest bowl & Shadow helped get back into the nest by moving a stick that was blocking it. It was a warm day in Big Bear and the chicks were hot and panting to cool off. It looked like Chick 1 was probably interested in getting more shade - hence heading into the kitchen where all the food is processed!! Shadow is on the nest and he continued to brood the other chick. Jackie arrives with a fish and she has a lot to say! She asked Shadow how did their chick get into the kitchen??? Shadow didn't give her an answer he just flew off leaving her with watching the explorer!! Jackie ate a few bites of fish then went to the nest bowl and brooded chick 2 but she kept her eagle eye on the explorer! Chick 1 did some cute wingers for Mom!! Then it was back to laying on the stick with its crop hanging over! Shadow arrives with a fish and Jackie will take it and start a feeding. One of the perks of being out of the nest bowl and in the pantry is being in a good position for feeding! Jackie feeds chick 1 - Chick 2 gets in there but had to wait. Chick 1 then turned around full and chick 2 got the rest of the fish. When Jackie was finished with the feeding, she starts to turn around to go back to the nest bowl. She is blocking our view of the escapee, but when she finally does turn around we see chick 1 back in the nest bowl!!! Did it climb back over the stick itself? Did Jackie's wing assist it? Either way, these chicks are going to be a handful for Jackie & Shadow.🐥🐥 More crib rails please! Thank you for watching!
